The AWARE Consortium studies autonomy for situational awareness.
Situational awareness is the perception of relevant elements within an operational environment, comprehension of their meanings, and forecasting of their future states to support timely and effective decision making. This challenging research area integrates the fields of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Networking, and Risk and Decision Analysis by focusing on the unified objective of producing high-quality, actionable intelligence.
The AWARE Consortium unites researchers from numerous discliplines across academia, government, and industry through an online seminar series focused on autonomy for situational awareness and bi-annual gatherings hosted by the University of Virginia.
